We are delighted to announce Land of Beds has won the ‘Roberts Bakery Family Business Award of Excellence’ at Cheshire’s 10th annual High Sheriff’s Awards for Enterprise 2015-16.
The awards recognise leaders of outstanding businesses in Cheshire, Warrington and Halton.
Land of Beds (a third-generation family business based in Helsby) have enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top of the sleep industry – capitalising on the e-commerce explosion with this website – www.landofbeds.co.uk – and building a sustainable infrastructure with their High Street presence in Cheshire.
Fittingly, our success comes during Sleep Awareness Week – part of National Bed Month, which is organised by The Sleep Council.
“We are absolutely delighted with the judges’ comments,” says father of two and Managing Director Mike Murray (pictured right), who attended the awards evening at Chester Racecourse with his wife Caroline, and his parents Mike Snr and Maria – all fellow Directors.
“They said ours was the most vivacious business in our category, which is testament to our staff of 24 employees, the support of the leading national bed manufacturers we work with, and of course our wonderful customers. I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed to our success over the past 40 years-plus.
‘Our driving passion is unlocking the potential in our staff every day to deliver a marketing-leading service. We want to become the best customer service company in the UK.”
Our achievements in the past 12 months include being commended in the National Bed Federation’s Bed Industry Awards 2015-16 for the third time in the past four years and opening a new distribution centre at Astmoor Industrial Estate in Runcorn. A second showroom in Frodsham will open on 18 March as part of our strategic plan to open five more stores in five years.
Professor Phil Harris, the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Awards, which are presented in partnership with the University of Chester, said: “The strength, quality and depth of the companies this year is excellent. They represent some of the best and make a real difference to the quality of our life in the region and UK.”
Bill Holroyd, the High Sheriff of Cheshire, said: “We are extraordinarily fortunate to have such a range of vibrant businesses in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington. The contribution they make to both our economy and their local communities is vital for the well-being of our county and it is wonderful to have the opportunity to applaud their work.”
